WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut added 2,600 jobs in January, according to preliminary numbers from the state Department of Labor, as the state's unemployment rate dropped one tenth of a point to 3.7 percent.

Revised numbers for December also show the state added 1,000 jobs, compared to the initial estimate of 100.

Six of the state's ten major labor sectors added jobs in January, while the other four declined. The "trade, transportation and utilities" sector led the gains with 3,200 net jobs. The "construction and mining" sector led the losses, dropping 600 positions.

For all of 2019, the revision process by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics turned Connecticut's initial estimated gain of 7,400 jobs, into a loss of 3,300.
