(Niantic, Conn./WTIC) - A unit of the Connecticut National Guard is readying for an overseas mission.
Later today, a military police unit based in Niantic will begin a roughly yearlong mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Guard spokesman Captain David Pytlik says the 100 member unit will first train for several weeks at an installation inTexas before heading to their mission.
Pytlik says, for now, they aren't publicly releasing the location of the deployment due to security reasons.
With this latest mission, Pytlik says there will be about 300 men and women of the Connecticut National Guard serving overseas.
