(Middletown, Conn./WTIC) - State Police have released final numbers from their Labor Day traffic enforcement detail.

The numbers cover the period from just after midnight Friday to 11:59 p.m. Monday.

Troopers responded to a total of 6,315 calls for service.  That's down nearly 700 from the same time frame a year ago.

Included in that number were 299 crashes, 17 with injuries and two fatalities--one each in Watertown and Tolland.

Twenty individuals were arrested on DUI charges.

Troopers also wrote up 218 speeding tickets and 12 for not wearing seatbelts.

In addition, another 549 were written up for various other hazardous moving violations such as unsafe lane changes, following too closely and failure to move over.
