(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - Job growth was essentially flat in Connecticut in December, according to figures out of the state Department of Labor.

The department reports a modest gain of 100 jobs last month.

The unemployment rate remained unchanged from November at 3.7-percent.

Andy Condon, the director of the department's Office of Research, says the results give them a first look at the overall performance for the year.

Condon says the preliminary annual average growth figure for 2019 was 7,400 non-farm jobs when compared to the year prior.

He says the figures are still subject to revision from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and those figures are expected in March.
