WINDHAM, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ An old mill building, mostly used for storage on Machine Shop Road in Windham, is a total loss in the wake of a 4-alarm fire.
Reports of the blaze around 1:47 Saturday morning prompted response from 14 area fire departments.
All four Windham departments responded with mutual aid from nearby UCONN, North Coventry, Hebron, Lebanon, and others.
The fire was controlled within an hour.
There were no injuries to report immediately.
Windham Town Manager, Jim Rivers, says that crews will spend most of their Saturday at the scene, investigating cause.
With several fires and a few fire-related deaths in Connecticut over the last week, Rivers reminds residents to check their fire alarms, to report fires as soon as they happen, and to get out of burning buildings as quickly as possible.
