HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Firefighters were expected to wrap up operations by late Tuesday morning at the scene of a massive blaze in Hartford's South Meadows.
The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at Central Auto on Maxim Rd.
Explosions could be heard coming from the fire. The flames consumed gas canisters, tires and a number of vehicles, according to fire officials.
There are no injuries reported. An employee who answered the phone tells WTIC News that the building was empty when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials say there was some runoff from the fire and they are working with state officials to assess any environmental concerns.
