(WTIC Radio) - The insurance company established to help Connecticut homeowners with crumbling foundations should begin issuing its first checks to claimants within two weeks. That, according to Connecticut Foundation Solutions Indemnity Company Superintendent Michael Maglaras.
When the company began accepting claims Jan. 10, it received 72 applications on its website in the first 14 minutes, said Maglaras. As of Friday morning, the company had received hundreds of applications.
Even if all of the applications received to date are approved, Maglaras says the company has not exhausted the allotted funds to pay claims. The money comes from state borrowing and a $12 annual surcharge on homeowners insurance policies.
He urges affected homeowners who have not already filed an application to do so sooner rather than later.
