(West Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Gasoline prices have plummeted in recent weeks.

Ordinarily, that would be a good thing.

But, the COVID-19 virus pandemic has created less of a demand for gas these days.

With the vast majority of citizens staying put and the price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia, analysts say a historic oil glut is not out of the question.

In Connecticut, the price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.36.

Amy Parmenter, AAA spokeswoman for the Hartford region, says it's not out of the realm of possibility that we see $2 a gallon gas at some point.

However, that's of little solace with citizens being urged to curtail activity.
