Governor Visits CT National Guard Troops at Guantanamo Bay

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Governor Ned Lamont returns from a one-day trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he visited Connecticut National Guard troops for the holiday season.

The Governor left with the Connecticut National Guard leadership team on Friday morning. While he was there, Governor Lamont wanted to shake hands with the troops, look them in the eye, and say "thank you" for their work.

In addition to meeting the troops, Captain John Fisher, the Commanding Officer of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, briefed the Governor on some of their latest work.

The Officials returned to the mainland U.S. Friday night.

There are 180 members of the Connecticut National Guard who are deployed around the world this holiday season.
