Hamden Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hamden detectives are investigating an early morning shooting of a 46-year-old man.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Arch Street and Bowen Street. 

Police found the 46-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to police, investigation revealed that the victim was panhandling in the parking lot at 144 Arch Street when he got involved in a verbal dispute with the operator of a gray sedan.

After the victim walked eastbound on Arch Street, police said the operator of the gray sedan drove to his location, "pulled out a gun" and shot at him "three or four times."

The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
