HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford police were warning the public about a string of at least five fatal overdoses in a period of 15 hours, that began Monday evening.
Police say suspect the synthetic opioid fentanyl played a role in all of the overdoses, which occurred in the Asylum Hill neighborhood and in the North End.
Police say they are seeing fentanyl present in pill form, mixed with heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine.
They also noted that there have been 38 fatal overdoses in the city so far this year, compared to 22 at this point last year.
