Hartford, Conn. (WTIC) - A press conference was held at Dunkin' Donuts Park Thursday for the Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies.

The press conference took place two hours before the second annual Hot Stove Dinner, where fans got a chance to win signed memorabilia, prizes, and heard from ESPN personalities Mike Golic and Mike Golic Jr. during a speaking segment.

Yard Goats pitchers Matt Pierpont and Scott Griggs spoke to the media along with second-year manager Warren Schaeffer.  Schaeffer spoke on the building excitement for the season, especially with Spring Training starting next month.

"You show up at Spring Training and you can feel the energy in the air," said Schaeffer.  Last year you could feel it, this year you're definitely going to feel it.  With each time we get closer and closer the energy is going to build."

Individual game tickets go on sale February 8th and the season-opener is set for April 4th at Richmond.

The home-opener will take place a week later, as the Yard Goats host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch from Dunkin' Donuts Park.
