(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Hartford police say one of their own prevented a person from jumping from a bridge.
Officers were dispatched to a rescue attempt involving an emotionally disturbed man on Columbus Boulevard.
They say the man threatened to jump from the bridge.
Police that's when Officer Jim Barrett arrived on his bike and met with the man.
He continued to threaten jumping over a rail overlooking traffic below.
Officers say Barrett was able to move in quickly and pull a man back from a railing to safety.
