NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ New Haven Police say a man is dead after a car struck him.
Eric Pechalonis, 52, of Hamden, was walking in the area of Ella Grasso Boulevard and Orange Avenue around 8:24 p.m. Monday night when a car struck him and crashed into a utility pole.
Investigators say the driver, Edward Lugo, 39, was intoxicated. Pechalonis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver has been charged with D.U.I. Additional charges are pending.
