(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - There's been an arrest in connection with a fatal crash in Hartford on Thursday, the result of a vehicle fleeing from an earlier shootout.

Officers say the 16-year-old is charged with manslaughter, evading responsibility resulting in death and larceny.

Investigators say two groups of people were firing at each other in the area of Westland Street around 1:30 p.m.

Police say the vehicle that struck the 71-year-old female victim was traveling in reverse in an attempt to get away.

A 17-year-old sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives say the vehicle that struck the victim had been reported stolen out of Manchester two days prior.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.
