(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Governor Lamont is activating the state National Guard to assist in power restoration efforts that have left over 600-thousand state residents still in the dark, three days after a tropical storm hit the state.

Lamont says the guard will support state and local teams in clearing debris from roadways.

Each team will consist of three vehicles and seven personnel.

Initially, two teams will support Eversource and two will support United Illuminating, with additional teams possible in the coming days.

Eversource in particular has been roundly criticized for its response in the aftermath of the storm.

PURA, the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, will launch an investigation in the responses of both Eversource and United Illuminating.
