(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Governor Lamont says more Connecticut residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

However, the governor says the numbers reflect results from more tests and that the numbers aren't going up exponentially.

In the latest round, there were 12-hundred positive cases, bringing that number to 6,906.

There have been 79 additional hospitalizations.

Lamont says there were 17 additional fatalities.  He says 206 Connecticut residents have died from the virus.

He says the numbers are going up on a linear basis, giving them more time to plan going forward.

Lamont says the numbers seem to indicate that social distancing is working in attempting to slow the virus's progression.
