(Bethany, Conn./WTIC) - State Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run from over a year ago.
Twenty-six-year-old Michael Rodriguez of Prospect is charged.
Troopers say on November 4, 2018, they were dispatched to an area of Route 63 in Bethany where they found the body of 25-year-old Tony Goncalves lying in the right shoulder.
Rodriguez told police he hit a deer in the area and held off reporting the accident because he was driving an unregistered vehicle without insurance.
Investigators subsequently found physical evidence linking Rodriguez's vehicle to the hit and run.
Goncalves died from multiple blunt force injuries according to the medical examiner.
Rodriguez faces charges of evading responsiblity resulting in injury or death.
He's free on a $25,000 bond and is due in court in New Haven June 1.
