MERIDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Meriden police say a local man is dead following a car crash Saturday night on Old Colony Road.
Xavier Alamo, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene after a Honda Civil in which he was riding struck a utility pole, snapping the pole and causing it to go through the back of the car and hit him, said police.
The driver, Byron Garcia, 24, also of Meriden was ejected from the car and taken to Hartford Hospital with critical injuries.
Police continue to investigate the crash, which occurred around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, in the area of 884 Old Colony Road.
