NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A man reportedly robbed a bank in New London of over six hundred dollars Thursday afternoon, and the suspect is still at large, according to the New London Police Department.
Officials say city police responded to an emergency 911 call of a robbery at Chelsea Groton Savings Bank at 1 Montauk Avenue at about 3:46 p.m. Thursday.
The bank reports the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note and left with about $650.00.
According to police, the male suspect did indicate that he had a weapon, though no weapon was displayed during the incident.
The bank tells police the suspect was a white and/or Hispanic male with a stocky build and "salt & pepper" facial hair. The bank also reports the suspect wore a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and pants.
Police are currently investigating the incident. Police say detectives have collected evidence and interviewed witnesses so far in the investigation.
