HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford HealthCare has unveiled a new training tool for law enforcement canine officers to help provide life-saving trauma care to their four-legged partners.
Axel is a dog mannequin that simulates everything from a broken bone to a gunshot wound that provides hands-on training to police.
The simulator, at Hartford Hospital's Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation, is the first of its kind in the country used in a hospital environment, according to officials.
