WATERFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - An electricity purchase agreement that seeks to keep the Millstone nuclear power station in Waterford operating for at least another decade is currently in the hands of state utility regulators.
The agreement was reached last month between the operator of the plant and Connecticut's two major electric utilities, Eversource and United Illuminating.
Governor Ned Lamont was joined by other state and local officials and executives of Dominion Energy, which owns the plant, Monday to hail the agreement.
Without a long-term agreement, Dominion had threatened to close the plant, which provides more than half of Connecticut's electricity and employs some 1,500 people.
