WTIC 1080 News - Groton Town Police responded to Groton Walmart for reports of an assault in the parking lot. It happened just before 6:30 last night.
Responding officers learned that a verbal argument had taken place between two indiviuals. The argument turned into a physical altercation and a small knife was pulled during the scuffle. A male and elderly female attempted to separate them when the male received puncture wounds and lacerations to the hand and wrist area.
The elderly female victim received serious lacerations to the arm and shoulder. She was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The male drove himself to L & M. A juvenile was present during the altercation but was unharmed.
One of the combatants received injuries from the knife which were not serious. Jeannette Braddock of Mashentuckett was treated on scene for minor injuries. Hatun Biyikli of Groton was charged with 2 counts of Assault, Breach of Peace and Risk of Injury to a Minor. She was held on a $10,000 bond. Braddock was charged with Assault 3rd degree, Threatening, Breach of Peace and Risk of Injury to a Minor. She was released on a $5000. bond.
Both have scheduled court appearances.
