Pedestrian Killed In Crash Identified

(Middletown, Conn./WTIC) - Middletown police have released the name of a man struck and killed by a motor vehicle on the day before Thanksgiving.

The victim has been identified as 68-year-old city resident Albert Burgess.

It was November 27 just before 6:30 p.m. that police were alerted to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Newfield Street.

Investigators say Burgess, who lived at 220 Newfield Street, was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a Dodge Durango driven by 28-year-old Daryl Franklin of Middletown.

Burgess was rushed to Middlesex Hospital where he later died.  

No charges have been filed in the crash, which remains under investigation.
