SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A person set ablaze a vehicle parked at a residence in Southington early Sunday morning, according to town authorities.
Upon further investigation, police say the home's surveillance system showed a person intentionally setting the car on fire.
The suspect, according to police, approached the front door of the residence with what appeared to be a water bottle type receptacle.
Police say the suspect is seen pouring a liquid between the front door of the residence and the vehicle. They say the suspect then poured the liquid onto the vehicle itself and set it on fire.
Officials say the suspect left the camera's view in an easterly direction as the vehicle got consumed by the flames.
Southington firefighters extinguished the fire at 325 Hart Street after they arrived at the residence at around 5 a.m. along with Southington police.
Police are investigating the incident and are in the process of getting any video footage that may be available in the area.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Southington Police Detective James Armack.
