(West Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Planning to celebrate All Hallows Eve tonight?  You're not alone.

Halloween has become just as much a big deal for adults as for children, it seems.

To that end, police agencies around the state are imploring grown ups and kids alike to stay safe.

West Hartford Police Captain Mike Perruccio says children should wear reflective costumes and be accompanied by an adult when out trick-or-treating.

He says those going to adult-themed parties where alcohol is served should have a ride lined up if they plan to drink.

Perruccio says citizens are encouraged to have a good time but do so in a safe and responsible manner.

And he advises motorists to be extra cautious heading home this evening with the earlier sunset and the additional foot traffic.
