(WTIC-AM) -- Seventeen shots were fired during a Hartford attack that left one man dead, and a second man wounded last night.

A police gunfire detection system recorded the shots.

Hartford Police Lieutenant Paul Cicero says one or more attackers came around a corner of a house, and opened fire on the victims in the front yard.

"This appears to be a very targeted attack," Cicero said. "We located seventeen shell casings at that general vicinity on Winchester Street."

Thirty-year-old Caron Canty of Hartford was killed.

The man who was wounded was taken to the hospital by his brother, who was also in the area.

He is expected to survive.

Houses in the neighborhood are close together, and the yard where the victims were shot has several large bushes.
