Shelton Police: Attacker Struck By Car While Fleeing Scene Of Stabbing

(WTIC-AM) -- An arrest was made today, in a violent incident in yesterday in Shelton. 

Shelton resident Carmelo Rivera is charged with attempted murder and assault of an elderly person.  


Police say the 26-year-old repeatedly stabbed his 60-year-old roommate with a knife.  

An argument allegedly got out of control.  

Police say Rivera left the apartment after the stabbing.  

He stepped into the southbound lane of Howe Avenue, and he was struck by a passing vehicle.  

The older person who was stabbed was critically injured, but his condition was stabilized at the hospital.
