(WTIC-AM) -- A Shelton woman is charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor, after she left three children alone for a short time, and one of them died.
Jessyka Oliveira is appearing in Derby Superior Court today, after her arrest yesterday.
Shelton Police say in December of last year, the 30-year-old left three children under the age of six alone at a home in downtown Shelton.
Two hours later, emergency crews were called to the home for a medical emergency.
The child was given medical attention, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Oliveira was also charged with interfering with a police officer.
Investigators say she was not truthful during her initial interviews by police.
Police did not release the name of the baby. They did not say what caused the child's death.
An internet posting seeking money for what it said would be funeral expenses, said the child died of RSV or respiratory syncytial virus.
RSV is a common illness that causes infections in the lungs and respiratory tract.
