(MERIDEN,Conn./WTIC Radio) - A small plane crashed Thursday evening onto a baseball field at Wilcox Technical High School on Oregon Road in Meriden.The plane came down not far from Meriden Markham Airport around 7 o'clock.The plane hit a high tension line and cut electricity to about 17,000 Eversource customers.
Eversource says two transmission lines and a substation were impacted.
The pilot was practicing "touch and go's"taking off and landing at the airport when the crash occurred.
The two people on board were taken to an area hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The FAA is expected to investigate.
