DEEP RIVER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State Police say a standoff that lasted over three hours with a town resident ended peacefully Saturday night.
Officials say 78-year-old Lindsay Smith refused to leave his residence once police attempted to serve arrest and weapons risk warrants stemming from an incident on February 28.
Troop F troopers say Smith was aware of the warrants and made threatening comments previously to law enforcement about the pending execution of those warrants.
Emergency Service Unit officials negotiated with Smith, who eventually surrendered.
He was charged with Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree and held on a $250,000 surety bond.
Smith has a scheduled appearance in Middletown Superior Court on March 4.
