(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - State House Democratic leaders are out with another proposal on tolls and this one doesn't include cars.

Rather, House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz and Majority Leader Matt Ritter are suggesting truck-only tolls on a dozen bridges, a reduction from Governor Lamont's call for 14 tolls that he outlined in his CT-2030 transportation improvement proposal earlier this month.

Lamont campaigned for governor on a trucks-only tolls plan before reversing field earlier this year, calling for all vehicles to be subject to tolls.

The leaders say their proposal would eliminate Route 9 and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross Parkways from the toll equation.

They say their plan raises $150 million annually.

Aresimowicz and Ritter also say Republican suggestions to use money from the Rainy Day fund to pay pension costs to help free up transportation dollarsd is a non starter for them.
