(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Governor Lamont is declaring a state of emergency as a result of damage the state incurred during Thursday's strong thunderstorms.
The action, Lamont says, will allow him to authorize certain actions that will help expedite the response.
In the aftermath of the storms, Lamont deployed about 100 members of the Connecticut National Guard Response Force as well as search and rescue teams to Branford and East Haven.
In addition, route clearence teams were dispatched to North Haven, which sustained extensive tree damage.
The governor has spent the day touring storm damage in North Haven and Branford, which saw virtually the entire town knocked offline.
