WATERBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A Connecticut State Trooper has been suspended after he was charged with DUI early Monday morning,State police say Trooper Shaquile Williams' cruiser was spotted with its hazard lights on, on the right shoulder of Interstate 84 in Waterbury shortly before 1 a.m. Williams was asleep or unresponsive inside, authorities said.Williams agreed to and failed a field sobriety test, according to police. He was booked on a charge of operating under the influence and released on $500 non-surety bond. Williams is due in Waterbury Superior Court April 21.
Williams was hired by state police in January 2018, according to state records.Police say Williams was suspended immediately. His cruiser, gun, badge and ID were seized. An internal affairs investigation has been launched.
