ASHFORD, CONN. (WTIC Radio)_ Connecticut State Police, local authorities, and volunteers are searching for a stolen bald eagle in Ashford.
The Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education center in Ashford announced a bald eagle named Atka was missing from its aviary Monday morning.
Atka is a non-flight bald eagle that would not have been able to get far if it had been simply let out of its cage.
Atka has brown eyes, which is considered unusual for an adult bald eagle.
A GoFundMe has been setup to help fund search efforts.
A $4,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of Atka.
Anyone with more information is asked to call Horizon Wings at (860) 481-0525 or Connecticut State Police at (860) 896-3200.
