Fay is on the way.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for all of Coastal Connecticut, from Greenwich to Stonington.
Tropical storm force winds (30-40 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph) are forecast for Long Island Sound starting Friday afternoon.
The warning, issued late Thursday afternoon, covers the Atlantic coastline from NJ to RI. It remains in effect until further notice.
Tropical Storm Fay could produce a total of 3 to 5 inches of rain Friday and Saturday.
Most of Connecticut is under a Flash Flood Watch into Saturday.
In its 11 p.m. Thursday advisory, the NHC said Tropical Storm Fay was about 85 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras, NC, with top sustained winds of 45 mph.
Forecasters say Fay will strengthen Friday, before the center moves inland and weakens.
