(Storrs, Conn./WTIC) - UConn is recalling 88 students studying in Italy as part of its Study Aboard program as a result of the spread of the coronavirus.

The university announced the measure this morning on its web site.

UConn had already canceled all official travel to China and South Korea.

Now, all non-essential institutionally sponsored travel to those countries, as well as Italy and Iran, is off until futher notice.

About 300 UConn students are participating in overseas academic programs in 29 nations.

Those students returning to the university will be kept up to date online and through remote learning opportunities, the university said.

There've been no cases of coronavirus reported in the state or at UConn.
