(Hartford,Conn./WTIC)-A New Britain teenage driver upset with her boyfriend, plowed into a crowd of pedestrians injuring five residents, including a young child. The incident occured Thursday afternoon at 1:11 on High Street.New Britain Police say they received several 9-1-1 calls indicating a car struck several pedestrians and then fled the scene. Five city residents were injured including a seven year old child. The seven year old and a second victim were taken to an area hospital. Police say they suffered serious, non- life threatening injuries. New Britain EMS treated the other three victims on the scene and they were released.The suspect is a 17-year old juvenile. New Britain Police say the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute where the driver was intent on running over the new girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. She ended up striking the five pedestrians. Police say the suspect knew the pedestrians. The driver fled but was captured quickly.The suspect faces five counts of First-Degree Assault and has been referred to juvenile detention.
