WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Mutual aid was needed to put out a second alarm apartment fire at the Westwood Apartments on Kane Street in West Hartford around 2:47 a.m. Tuesday.
West Hartford Fire Chief Greg Priest reports there was fire coming from the third floor of the building. Hartford Fire, New Britain Fire, and UConn Fire were brought to the scene for additional support.
An aggressive interior attack knocked the bulk of the fire down, he said.
All tenants in nearby apartments were evacuated. There are no reported injuries.
Authorities initially said about 8-10 apartments were damaged by fire, smoke, or water; they later reduced that number to 3 or 4.
The Red Cross and West Hartford Social Services have been contacted to provide assistance.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
