NORWICH, Conn. (WTIC) - A Norwich police officer has been charged with driving under the influence in Farmington.
Police say 32-year-old officer Chase Chiangi was off duty and in his personal vehicle when he was stopped by Farmington police on Tuesday night. He was charged with going through a stop sign and operating under the influence.
Norwich Police Chief Patrick Daley says the department expects officers to conduct themselves appropriately both on and off duty. Chiangi, a member of the force since 2008, has been put on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. He is due in Hartford Superior Court next Wednesday.
