(Newtown, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Newtown say a parent of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings was found dead this morning at Edmond Town Hall.
Officers, along with fire and emergency personnel, were called around 7 a.m. to the building at 45 Main Street in town.
That's where 49-year-old Jeremy Richman was discovered.
Police are investigating the death as a suicide.
Richman had an office in Edmond Town Hall, according to police.
His daughter was Avielle Richman, one of 20 students and six educators who were shot to death December 14, 2012.
Jeremy Richman was the founder of the Avielle Foundation, named for his daughter.
"This is a heartbreaking event for the Richman family and the Newtown community as a whole..." said Newtown Police Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde.
