Police Investigating a Pair of Shootings in Ansonia

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTIC) – Ansonia police are investigating a pair of shootings that occurred early Saturday morning.

The first occurred at 3:06 a.m. when police received a complaint of a dispute with possible shots fired in the area of 232 Main Street.  While officers were responding to that area, a separate complaint of shots fired was reported in the area of High Street and Lester Street.


When officers arrived at Lester Street, they found shots had been fired with several of those striking a nearby occupied home.  Responding officers also found numerous shell casings on the street.

A 27-year old male was found in the house and had been shot once in the shoulder.  He was transported to an area hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the Derby Police Department contacted Ansonia police to report a gunshot victim from Main Street had been dropped off at the Griffin Hospital Emergency Room.

The 40-year old male resident of Ansonia was shot once in the upper torso.  He was transferred to an area hospital for further treatment and is reported to be in critical condition.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the shootings and have not determined yet if they are related.
