(South Windsor, Conn./WTIC) - A suspected porch pirate is under arrest in South Windsor after police say he nearly struck a police officer with his vehicle in an effort to get away.
Police say it started with a complaint from a Main Street resident around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
The resident reported a man had just taken packages from the front porch and left the area.
Working off information provided by the homeowner, officers later stopped 47-year-old Eric Levesque of East Windsor on Route 5.
Detectives say when the officer asked Levesque for identification, the suspect sped off, grazing the officer, who was not injured.
Officers later made contact with Levesque, who was headed toward Hartford along Interstate 291 and he later turned himself in.
Levesque is charged with larceny, reckless driving, engaging in pursuit and assault on a police officer. He's due in court March 14.
