HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A special four-member committee of the state House is unable to reach agreement on whether to call new election for a contested legislative seat. Members of the Committee on Contested Elections announced Monday they were unable to reach a consensus over the weekend and are now sending two separate recommendations to the Democratic-controlled Houseto consider. Democrat Phil Young has already been sworn in to represent Stratford's 120th Assembly District seat, after winning by 13 votes. But Republican James Feehan has challenged the tally because about 75 voters received the wrong ballots. While the two Republican members say they believe a new election should be called, the two Democrats disagree and believe that would disenfranchise the approximately 10,000 people who used the proper ballots.
