(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state is getting ready for a winter storm that could bring snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice on trees and power line when all is said and done.

The snow is expected to break out this evening and a changeover to sleet and freezing rain is expected at or around midnight.  


Numerous local cities and towns have instituted parking bans as a result.

In Hartford, Mayor Luke Bronin says a parking ban goes into effect at midnight.

Governor Ned Lamont has ordered a partial activation of the state Emergency Operations Center beginning at 6 p.m.

That means the EOC will be staffed with personnel from among the Departments of Transportation, Energy and Environmental Protection, and Public Health, along with the State Police and liasons from Eversource and United Illuminating.
