(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The union representing thousands of Stop and Shop workers on Wednesday authorized a strike.
No date has been set.
Talks are continuing today on a new contract. The current pact expired last month.
The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 371, representing workers in Connecticut and western Massachusetts, says one sticking point is the company proposing benefits cut.
Stop and Shop says its full-time associates are among the highest paid in the industry and they have pumped nearly $2 billion in store upgrades.
