STRATFORD, Conn. (WTIC) – Stratford Police are investigating a burglary on Broadbridge Avenue Thursday morning involving an unidentified male posing as a water company employee.

Police say the male used fake identification to enter the home, stating he needed to check the water in the residence.

The homeowner escorted the male into the basement, at which time two other unidentified suspects entered the home and committed the burglary.

Before Police arrived, the suspects fled the scene toward Winter Street.

The suspects are described as:

  1. White Male, 5’10”, wearing a white button down shirt with blue stripes and a gray hat with a red logo
  2. White male of average height, brown hair, stocky build
  3. White male, 5’11”, wearing a white shirt, brown hair

Police remind homeowners not to let strangers into their home and if someone shows up unannounced claiming to be from a utility company or other agency, homeowners should call the agency in question.  Furthermore, if there is any doubt about a person’s authenticity, police urge that homeowners not let that person into their home and immediately call police.

Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying the three suspects.  Specifically, they ask any residents in the area on Broadbridge Avenue and Winter Street who may have surveillance video to contact Stratford Police at (203) 385-4143 or 4119.
