Students Leave Out Hats, Scarves For The Homeless And Needy

TORRINGTON, Conn. (AP) - Students at a Connecticut school are leaving out bright yellow scarves and hats for people experiencing homelessness and those who are in need.  Ainsley Todd, a 12-year-old student at Torrington's St. Peter/St. Francis School, says students also wrote a small message for the people who need the winter clothing during the cold upcoming weekend. The Republican-American reports the school's student council was pleased to see people taking items from their school's fence Thursday after they placed a sign inviting people to take the clothing.  Twelve-year-old Dylan Bird, another council member, says the campaign for caring is a good way to teach empathy for those around them.
