(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - With the unofficial start of the summer season virtually upon us, one local swimming area will have limited hours this season.
The MDC--Metropolitan District Commission--says a lack lifeguard applicants at Lake McDonough in Barkhamsted has forced them to scale back their hours.
MDC says beginning Saturday, the recreation area will be closed from Monday through Wednesday.
The area will be open from Thursday through Sunday this summer from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
MDC says the park will be open Memorial Day Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Also, hours for the Fourth of July, this year on a Thursday, are 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
MDC points out that the new swimming schedule at Lake McDonough does not affect the hours for boating.
