
(Cromwell, Conn./WTIC) - One of the top golfers and most popular players on the PGA Tour has a return date to Connecticut this year.
Bubba Watson has commited to defend his title at this year's Travelers Championship.
Watson has won the event three times.
He calls it one his of favorite stops on the tour, adding it will always hold special meaning for him because the Travelers was his first tour in 2010.
Last year, Watson came from six shots back in the final round to claim victory. He donated $200,000 to the tournament's primary beneficiary, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford.
Watson currently ranks 17th in the Official World Golf ranking. He joins five others in the top 20 who'll be playing the Travelers this year, including two-time defending U.S. Open champ Brooks Koepka.
The Travelers Chamionship will be held June 17-23 at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
